Frequently Asked Questions
I’m a San Jose family and newborn photographer serving families throughout the Bay Area including Los Gatos, Saratoga, Palo Alto, Campbell, Morgan Hill, and Santa Cruz. Below are answers to the most common questions about sessions, preparation, and booking.
Booking + Timeline
-
Family sessions typically book 1–3 months in advance, especially for fall and spring. Weekend dates and golden hour sessions tend to fill first.
-
I recommend booking newborn sessions during pregnancy to ensure availability around your due date. I only take a limited number of newborn clients per month.
-
You can inquire through my contact form. Once your date is confirmed, a contract and retainer are required to secure your session.
Location + Travel
-
I photograph families throughout San Jose, Los Gatos, Saratoga, Palo Alto, Campbell, Morgan Hill, Santa Cruz, and the greater Bay Area. Sessions can take place outdoors or in your home depending on the session type. I am always happy to provide suggestions and share my favorite spots!
-
Yes, I regularly photograph throughout the Bay Area. Travel fees may apply for locations further outside the South Bay.
-
Some favorite locations include beaches in Santa Cruz, open fields in Saratoga, gardens in Palo Alto, and local parks throughout San Jose. We will talk about your vision and pick the best spot!
Style + Experience
-
I recommend neutral, soft tones and coordinating (not matching) outfits. Flowy textures, layers, and earthy tones photograph beautifully and keep the focus on connection. After booking, you will receive my Style Guide and I’m always available to help with specifics.
-
Newborn sessions are relaxed and baby-led. I recommend keeping the home warm, feeding baby right before I arrive, and not worrying about perfection—there is no need to clean the entire house. You will receive a Newborn Session Prep Checklist after booking.
-
My style is natural, timeless, and connection-focused. I gently guide families but avoid stiff posing, allowing real moments to unfold. Most of the session involves movement, interaction, and natural connection.
Logistics
-
This is completely normal and expected. I work at a relaxed pace and focus on connection rather than perfection. Some of the best images come from real, unposed moments. Full sessions are great because the time allows for everyone to get comfortable. I also have spent many years working with kids, along with being a mom myself, and can usually get kids to open up with me!
-
Family sessions are typically 60–90 minutes depending on collection. Newborn sessions are usually 1.5–2 hours to allow time for feeding and breaks.
